Interview with

Claudio Naranjo

Psychiatrist, lecturer, psychotherapist, philosopher and author.
Claudio Naranjo discusses the difficulties in helping therapists become complete beings and emphasizes the importance of becoming fully human before becoming a therapist. He also highlights the suffering involved in personal growth and the need to integrate our instinctual nature and develop three loves and three qualities of attention.

Naranjo suggests that a successful therapeutic relationship involves both information transmission and transformation, and he emphasizes the importance of cultural diversity and the integration of different traditions. Additionally, he discusses the challenges of finding good mentors and recommends cultivating sincerity and a service-oriented attitude in the pursuit of personal and collective growth.

Claudio Naranjo, born in Chile in 1932, embarked on a remarkable journey that traversed medicine, psychiatry, psychedelic research, and personal development. His life story takes us from a musical upbringing in Chile to his groundbreaking work with psychopharmacology, the counterculture movement in Berkeley, and his role in shaping the field of holistic education.

Along the way, he formed friendships with influential figures like Carlos Castaneda and Fritz Perls, contributing to the development of psychedelic therapy and personal growth programs.
